Ports and image channels

An input port receives data, and an output port sends data. Compatible ports form a connection.

Image data can contain one grayscale channel, red-green-blue channels, or red-green-blue-alpha channels. Alpha stores transparency.

Channel nodes separate or combine image channels. Value nodes send typed parameter data, such as a float, integer, Boolean value, enumeration, or two-component vector.

Goblin Node can promote data to a wider channel layout when a node contract supports it. Some nodes intentionally return grayscale or opaque color.
