Image Sample
Image Sample
Image Sample is a low-level UV remapping primitive. Red supplies U and green supplies V for every output pixel, while addressing and filtering determine how the source image is read.
Availability
This node requires Pro.
Common uses
- Build coordinate maps with red for horizontal U and green for vertical V.
- Use Bilinear for smooth transforms and Nearest for masks, atlases, or pixel art.
- Choose OpenGL when the coordinate map stores V upward instead of downward.
Input ports
-
image -
coordinates -
Image accepts grayscale, RGB, or RGBA data.
-
Coordinates expects U in red and V in green; when absent, an identity UV grid is generated.
Output ports
-
out -
Preserves the Image input pixel format and supports native 8-bit and 16-bit processing.
Parameters
| Parameter | Type | Default | Range or values |
|---|---|---|---|
| Address Mode | enum | repeat | repeat, clamp, mirror |
| Filtering | enum | bilinear | bilinear, nearest |
| Coordinate Format | enum | directx | directx, opengl |
Behavior
- Coordinates controls the default output dimensions; Image controls output format and bit depth.
- Repeat, Clamp, and Mirror addressing are applied independently to U and V.
Common mistakes
- Blue and alpha in the Coordinates input are ignored.
- Repeat maps integer UV boundaries back to the start of the texture.
