Crystal Noise

Crystal Noise

Use Crystal Noise to create sharp, angular crack patterns that resemble crystalline structures, shattered glass, or mineral veins. Each cell randomly generates 2–6 branch segments radiating outward with hash-driven angles and lengths. Disorder controls branch angle jitter and spread. Supports multichannel output for RGB variation across seeds.

Availability

This node requires Pro.

Common uses

  • Frequency controls the number of cells (lower = larger crystals).
  • Disorder adds randomness to branch angles and spacing.
  • Invert flips black and white.
  • Multichannel produces independent RGB crystal patterns.

Input ports

  • None

  • No external image input required; parameters and seed control output.

Output ports

  • out

  • Outputs grayscale or multichannel noise depending on node settings.

Behavior

  • Crystal noise is deterministic for a given seed and parameter set.
  • Each cell evaluates a 3×3 neighborhood for smooth branch continuity across cell boundaries.
  • RGB multichannel uses three independent seed offsets for varied patterns per channel.

Common mistakes

  • Very low frequency with high disorder may produce overlapping branches.
