Directional Blur
Directional Blur
Use Directional Blur to smear detail along a chosen axis for motion-like effects. It works well for streaking textures and anisotropic mask shaping.
Availability
This node requires Pro.
Common uses
- Use blur before thresholding to smooth noisy masks.
- Use sharpen and highpass to recover or isolate detail bands.
Input ports
-
input -
Requires an image input signal.
Output ports
-
out -
Outputs a filtered image that preserves graph connectivity.
Parameters
| Parameter | Type | Default | Range or values |
|---|---|---|---|
| Intensity | int | 8 | 0 to 128 |
| Angle | float | 0 | 0 to 360 |
Behavior
- Detail filters operate on neighboring pixels and are sensitive to resolution.
- Different blur and sharpen algorithms produce distinct edge behavior.
Common mistakes
- Large radii can wipe out fine structure.
- Repeated detail filters can create halos or ringing.
