Spherize
Spherize
Use Spherize to create spherical distortion effects, pushing pixels outward for a bulge effect or pulling them inward for a pinch effect. Positive intensity values expand (bulge), negative values pinch (contract). Ideal for stylized warp effects and lens simulation.

This node requires Pro.
Common uses
- Positive intensity bulges the image outward; negative intensity pinches inward.
- Combine with masks to apply spherical distortion only to specific regions.
Input ports
-
input -
Requires an image input to distort.
Output ports
-
out -
Outputs the spherized image with the same dimensions.
Parameters
| Parameter | Type | Default | Range or values |
|---|---|---|---|
| Intensity | float | 0.25 | -10 to 10 |
| Center X | float | 0.5 | 0 to 1 |
| Center Y | float | 0.5 | 0 to 1 |
Behavior
- Spherize remaps UVs using a spherical projection function centered at the given point.
- Intensity controls the radius of the spherical effect with negative values inverting the direction.
Common mistakes
- High intensity values can produce extreme stretching at the edges.
- Tiling may cause visible seams when used with strong spherical distortion.
