Blend
Blend
Use Blend to combine two branches with selectable compositing behavior. It is the primary node for layering color, mask, and detail passes.
Availability
This node is available in the free feature set.
Common uses
- Normalize inputs before mixing for predictable blends.
- Use masks and height maps to control which regions dominate.
Input ports
-
fg -
bg -
mask -
Expects two or more input branches depending on node type.
Output ports
-
out -
Outputs the mixed result and optional helper maps for some nodes.

Behavior
- Mixing nodes merge, select, or route among multiple incoming signals.
- Blend behavior depends on selected mode and input value ranges.
Common mistakes
- Input range mismatches can make blend results look clipped or washed out.
- Switch-based nodes can hide inactive branches during debugging.
