Vector Warp
Vector Warp
Vector Warp uses a color vector map instead of a grayscale driver. Red controls horizontal movement and green controls vertical movement around a neutral 50% value, which makes it suitable for flow maps, normal-map-derived vectors, and authored directional deformation.
Availability
This node requires Pro.
Common uses
- Use RGBA Merge or a normal-map conversion to build a vector map.
- Keep red and green near 50% where no displacement is wanted.
- Switch Vector Format when the source flow or normal map uses the opposite green-channel convention.

Parameters
| Parameter | Type | Default | Range or values |
|---|---|---|---|
| Intensity | float | 0.1 | 0 to 1 |
| Non-Square Expansion | bool | true | - |
| Vector Format | enum | directx | directx, opengl |
Behavior
- Only the red (X) and green (Y) channels are sampled.
- DirectX and OpenGL formats differ only by their green-channel direction.
Common mistakes
- Blue and alpha do not affect the displacement.
- High intensity can stretch detail and reveal non-tiled edges when tiling is disabled.
