Radial Blur
Radial Blur
Use Radial Blur to push detail around or away from a center point. It is useful for spin, zoom, and lens-inspired distortion treatments.
Availability
This node requires Pro.
Common uses
- Use blur before thresholding to smooth noisy masks.
- Use sharpen and highpass to recover or isolate detail bands.
Input ports
-
input -
Requires an image input signal.
Output ports
-
out -
Outputs a filtered image that preserves graph connectivity.
Parameters
| Parameter | Type | Default | Range or values |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mode | enum | spin | spin, zoom |
| Intensity | float | 0.35 | 0 to 2 |
| Center X | float | 0.5 | 0 to 1 |
| Center Y | float | 0.5 | 0 to 1 |
| Samples | int | 16 | 2 to 64 |
Behavior
- Detail filters operate on neighboring pixels and are sensitive to resolution.
- Different blur and sharpen algorithms produce distinct edge behavior.
Common mistakes
- Large radii can wipe out fine structure.
- Repeated detail filters can create halos or ringing.
