Slope Blur
Slope Blur
Use Slope Blur to drag pixels along a gradient field for directional erosion effects. It is frequently used with noise or height inputs to create natural breakup.
Availability
This node requires Pro.
Common uses
- Use blur before thresholding to smooth noisy masks.
- Use sharpen and highpass to recover or isolate detail bands.
Input ports
-
input -
slope -
Requires an image input signal.
Output ports
-
out -
Outputs a filtered image that preserves graph connectivity.
Parameters
| Parameter | Type | Default | Range or values |
|---|---|---|---|
| Samples | float | 8 | 0 to 32 |
| Intensity | float | 8 | 0 to 16 |
| Mode | enum | blur | blur, min, max |
Behavior
- Detail filters operate on neighboring pixels and are sensitive to resolution.
- Different blur and sharpen algorithms produce distinct edge behavior.
Common mistakes
- Large radii can wipe out fine structure.
- Repeated detail filters can create halos or ringing.
