Fractal Noise
Fractal Noise
Use Fractal Noise for multi-scale breakup where both broad forms and fine detail are required. It often drives roughness masks, terrain-like height variation, and layered distortion.
Availability
This node requires Pro.
Common uses
- Use low-frequency noise for broad breakup and high-frequency noise for detail.
- Drive distortion, blend masks, or thresholding with noise outputs.
Input ports
-
None
-
No external image input required; parameters and seed control output.
Output ports
-
out -
Outputs grayscale or multichannel noise depending on node settings.

Behavior
- Noise nodes are deterministic for a given seed and parameter set.
- Different noise models create different value distributions and edge behavior.
- Disorder animates the underlying noise ingredients on a perfect loop, so 1.0 returns to the same result as 0.0.
Common mistakes
- Very high frequency values can alias at lower output resolutions.
- When using seed-heavy graphs, keep seed strategy organized for reproducibility.
