Blur HQ
Blur HQ
Use Blur HQ when smoother blur quality is needed with reduced sampling artifacts. It is suited to final passes where regular blur appears too coarse.
Availability
This node requires Pro.
Common uses
- Use blur before thresholding to smooth noisy masks.
- Use sharpen and highpass to recover or isolate detail bands.
Input ports
-
input -
Requires an image input signal.
Output ports
-
out -
Outputs a filtered image that preserves graph connectivity.
Parameters
| Parameter | Type | Default | Range or values |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strength | float | 5 | 0 to 50 |
| Quality | int | 8 | 1 to 32 |
| Direction | enum | both | horizontal, vertical, both |
Behavior
- Detail filters operate on neighboring pixels and are sensitive to resolution.
- Different blur and sharpen algorithms produce distinct edge behavior.
Common mistakes
- Large radii can wipe out fine structure.
- Repeated detail filters can create halos or ringing.
